Finite Element Analysis

Light Weight Structures Advisory Service - Finite Element AnalysisLoad Analysis is a computer simulated function performed within Finite Element Software. Its purpose is to provide a stress analysis of the fabric membrane and support systems.  This system allows for the accurate sizing of structural steel members and attachment details.

During the Load Analysis function the fabric membrane and support systems are subjected to a series of computer simulated environmental conditions which the structure may be subjected. The simulation allows the designer to identify stress points within the membrane canopy and supporting structure. Having identified these aspects under simulation, the shape of the structure may be manipulated to reduce high stress points.

When the shape of the membrane is finalized, the Load Analysis software can be used to accurately determine the sizing of the structural support framework, cables and struts for the structure.

Upon completion of the Load Analysis, reaction forces are summarized in tabular format. This documentation is then forwarded to the consulting project engineer responsible for other structural detail and certification.

LTWSAS service includes:

  • Determination of the wind and snow load

  • Deformation and stability analysis

  • Stress analysis
